Conference Details

Experience a day of renewal and revitalization at the CIS Summer R&R Conference highlighting
Project Based Learning.

8:30-9:00 Registration and light breakfast (bagels, fruit, coffee, juice)
9:00-11:30 Morning Session addressing the following: overview of PBL and the underlying belief system associated with PBL, develop an understanding of the PBL culture, examine the components consistent with the ‘gold standard’ approach to PBL
11:30-12:45 Lunch and Wellness Fair (attendees can participate in optional yoga sessions, mindfulness, stretching classes)
12:45-3:30 Afternoon Session addressing the following: learn how to plan and organize for PBL, participate in a “micro version” study of PBL, complete with entry event, driving question,  reflection practices, and standards inclusion
Participants are asked to bring an electronic device such as a phone, tablet or laptop as the program will utilize electronic tools and resources. Yoga and other relaxtion sessions will be offered during lunch, so please wear casual clothes. 


DescriptionDeb Caywood - Presenter

Deb is an educator with over 20 years of classroom experience.  Her background is in elementary education, project based learning, and innovative integration of technology and immersive learning experiences. She currently works for Liberty Public Schools as a 5th grade teacher where she enjoys working at EPiC Elementary-the districts innovative elementary school. She is a graduate of Arkansas State University with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. She is an adjunct professor at Rockhurst University and serves as a consultant for Project Based Learning implementation, helping schools build a culture of innovation, risk taking, and technology integration. Deb is passionate about helping educators rethink and revision what teaching and learning can be like for themselves and their students when they are equipped, empowered, and excited.
