Community Service
Columbia Independent School believes community service is a responsibility and a privilege and that the giving of one's talents and abilities is fundamental to a person's intellectual and personal growth. The CIS commitment to community service is intended to lay the foundation for a lifetime of compassionate service.
Lower School and Upper School students serve their school and local community through their classes and Prides (Upper School advisory groups), as well as organizations such as Student Council, National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society. Student-driven projects have included collecting food for the Central Missouri Food Bank, cleaning up Columbia through the Adopt-A-Spot program, providing hygiene kits for low-income families and raising money for Hurricane Katrina evacuees.
