Welcome to Columbia Independent School! We are pleased that as you have learned about our program, and perhaps talked with our faculty, you feel that CIS may be the type of education you want for your student. The following information is designed to assist you with the formal admissions process. Please remember that if, at any point, you have questions you may always call our Director of Admissions, Karen Shryock, at (573) 815-5965.

The Admissions process officially begins when your student's Application for Admission and the application fee are submitted to Columbia Independent School (CIS). The Director of Admissions then confirms receipt of the Application for Enrollment (Form A), the Parents'/ Guardians' Questionnaire (Form B), the Applicant Information (Form C), the Request for Schools Records (Form D), and the application fee.

Next, the applicant should provide his/her current teacher with the Teacher Evaluation form (Form E). The teacher must mail the form directly to CIS. You may wish to provide the teacher with a stamped envelope addressed to Columbia Independent School.

Applicants for grades 6-12 should register to take the entrance examination by calling the Admissions office at 815-5965.

When all of the above information has been received, the Director of Admissions schedules an interview for the applicant and his or her parents/guardians. Applicants for grades 6-12 also participate in a half-day student visit, which may be scheduled for the same day. Upon completion of the interview (and half-day visit), the Director of Admissions will confirm that the applicant's file is complete.

The final step in the process is for the Admissions Committee to review the file and make a determination as to whether or not the candidate is a good fit for CIS. You will be informed of the committee's decision by letter.
