CIS Welcomes Fowler as New Security and Facilities Coordinator

June 01, 2017

My name is Trevor Fowler, and I am the new Security and Facilities Coordinator at CIS. I have been here at CIS for several weeks now  and have received a very warm welcome! Because the safety and security of your child is so important, I wanted to introduce myself  and share a bit of my background.

I just retired from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department after a wonderful 23 year career with them! The last nine years I was a School  Resource Officer for Columbia Public School District and for Southern Boone School District. Educating and protecting children are my  passion. My wife, Candace Fowler, served as the Assistant Principal at Fairview Elementary this past school year and was named the  new Principal at Russell Boulevard for next year. Education and school safety run deep in my family.

I was the Vice President and then President of the Missouri School Resource Officers Association for six years. I assisted in writing two  laws regarding school safety (Senate Bill 75 and a portion of House Bill 152). I am a certified D.A.R.E. instructor and A.L.I.C.E. instructor. I have taught an active shooter defense program called A.L.I.C.E.(Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate), throughout  the state of Missouri. I want to get you involved next year and plan to hold several sessions in the evening hours to educate you on this  program. I believe it is very important for all parents to know exactly what is going on with your child when you’re not with them and what they will be doing in a crisis situation.

I am very honored to be here at CIS and hope to be here for many years to come! I take this position very seriously and will do all I can to protect each and every student. My philosophy is that your child is my child during school hours, and I will care for them!

Thank you for such a warm welcome these past few weeks. Please watch for future emails regarding upcoming school safety events!
