Character Development

Middle School Character Development

At CIS, we realize that a middle school child needs the opportunity for self-discovery and physical, academic, and emotional growth in a nurturing and safe environment. In 6th-8th grades, students attend a daily Pride or advisory with a group of their peers. Students have the opportunity to connect with their Pride advisor, receive tutoring support and homework advisement, as well as preparation for a successful middle school experience. Character education is emphasized through weekly assemblies, in-class discussions, current events, and curriculum integration. In addition, students learn about time management, organization skills, research and technology tips, setting and achieving goals, developing a growth mind set, dealing with emotions and handling the pressures of adolescence. Students also learn service and responsibility through both school and community involvement.
